The edition “Jackie – The Life and Style of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis”

Published in the summer of 2024 with Kathimerini Sunday Edition

This is a Greek reissue of Chiara Pasqualetti Johnson’s book

I translated Chapter 2 of the book, focusing on the “wedding of the year”

It explores Jackie’s early years as a young adult,

her brief career as a photojournalist at the Washington Times-Herald,

her short-lived engagement to
young stockbroker
John Husted Jr.,

her introduction to the Kennedy dynasty,

and, ultimately, the creation of her own legend

as the wife of the rising senator and future president, JFK.

The author portrays a Jackie

who constantly walks a fine line between social conformity

and being true to herself,

offering details of the small disasters behind the “wedding of the century”

namely, the groom being drunk on the very day of the wedding,

and the wedding dress, ruined by a burst pipe, which had to be hastily remade in cream-ivory taffeta, with ruffles and orange blossoms.
